First Spy Satellite

Fun Fact of the Day – The first spy satellite launched in 1960 as part of the CIAs Corona program to surveil the USSR and China. To recover the images, buckets of film were parachuted from the disposable space camera and recovered mid-air by Air Force cargo planes. Even in the 1960’s the satellite cameras had a ground resolution of 5 feet.
